Grade 7 Transition Rites
July 9, 2008
The Grade 7 students underwent the school's first Transition Rites last July 4, 2008. The activity commenced with a Seminar on Adolescence given by Mr. Julius Cuaresma Pre of De La Salle Manila for the Grade 7 boys. The session was held at the Café Berde Hall. Dr. Marison Dy of UP Los Baños gave the seminar to the girls at the Media Lab. This was followed by a Reflection Period wherein the students were able to express their sentiments to their parents in a letter-writing activity. The Grade 7 parents had a simultaneous Reflection Period conducted by our Brother President, Br. Kenneth Martinez FSC, in the school auditorium. The students and their parents had an opportunity to dialogue afterwards in small groups during the Parent-Child Interaction held in the 2nd and 3rd floor classrooms. Everybody congregated in the auditorium after an hour for the transition ceremony. The parents lighted their candles and passed these to their children in a symbolic prayer. Then Br. Kenneth gave an inspirational talk after which the class presidents offered the students' pledges. The song, You're My Home, presented by the students, was a heart-warming number at the end of a rewarding afternoon. The Transition Rites was capped by a simple agape held in the Grade 7 classrooms as everyone went home with a renewed bond and assurance of love for both parent and child.
